The Relationship of the Colloid Osmotic-
نویسندگان
چکیده
The relationship of serum colloid osmotic pressure (COP) and pulmonary artery wedge pressure (PAWP) to pulmonary edema and mortality was investigated in 76 critically ill patients. Forty patients suffered from circulatory shock and 36 dId not. The COP-PAWP gradient and radiographic evidence of pulmonary edema were measured at the time of diagnosis. The COPPAWP gradient was markedly decreased in both shock and non-shock patients with pulmonary edema. Decrease of the COP-PAWP gradient correlated with mor-

Marked decrease in intraocular pressure in a neovascular glaucoma patient during hemodialysis.
While the relationship between intraocular pressure and plasma osmolarity has been investigated during hemodialysis, no research has been published concerning the relationship between intraocular pressure and plasma colloid osmotic pressure during hemodialysis. We describe a patient with neovascular glaucoma who demonstrated a marked decrease in intraocular pressure during hemodialysis. The pat...
متن کاملPulmonary edema related to changes in colloid osmotic and pulmonary artery wedge pressure in patients after acute myocardial infarction.
Pulmonary artery wedge and plasma colloid osmotic pressures and their relationship to pulmonary edema were investigated in 26 patients with acute myocardial infarction of whom 14 developed pulmonary edema. In the absence of pulmonary edema, both the pulmonary artery wedge pressure and plasma colloid osmotic pressure were in normal range; after onset pulmonary edema, a moderate increase in pulmo...
متن کاملPulmonary edema during volume infusion.
The relationship between left ventricular filling pressure and plasma colloid osmotic pressure to pulmonary edema was examined in a group of 37 patients, the majority of whom were hypovolemic. Sixteen patients developed pulmonary edema during fluid infusion. In the 21 patients who did not develop pulmonary edema, the left ventricular filling pressure was slightly elevated but the colloid osmoti...
متن کاملTranscapillary fluid flux and inflammatory response during neonatal therapeutic hypothermia: an open, longitudinal, observational study
BACKGROUND Therapeutic hypothermia is neuroprotective in asphyxiated neonates by counteracting mechanisms contributing to brain injury. Although an initial increased permeability is part of an inflammatory reaction and thereby a natural healing process, an excessive endothelial permeability with edema formation may result in impaired hemodynamics. Reduced permeability may, however, benefit heal...
متن کاملSodium Movement across Single Perfused Proximal Tubules of Rat Kidneys
Using perfusion techniques in single proximal tubule segments of rat kidney, the relationship between net sodium movement and active transport of ions, as measured by the short-circuit method, has been studied. In addition, the role of the colloid-osmotic pressure gradient in proximal transtubular fluid and sodium movement has been considered. Furthermore, the limiting concentration gradient ag...
